Charity
Geri
discussed the Charity Quilt Challenge for QuiltCon 2017. She asked the group to come up with original
designs within the guidelines set by MQG.
These designs should be submitted by the next meeting and the guild will
vote on which design to make. The sew
day in July will be for the Charity quilts.

We still
have more spots to fill for Latifah, so please share the information with
friends and family and post on social media.
Swaps and Challenges
Tamie and Jackie
announced the May challenge. The guild
provided Art Gallery fabric by Bari J. for a block. Then each member selected a traditional block
to make modern. The quilt will be made
into a quilt for charity. Please bring
back your scraps for filler blocks. For examples see http://modernquilts.mqumag.com/challenge/
Amy
announced a new quilt along/challenge and told the guild about Chuck Nohara’s
book 2001 blocks. Each month a few
blocks will be selected from the book for the group. Since there are no instructions in the book
it will be fun to see how everyone puts the blocks together. Many blocks can be done by handpiecing,
traditional piecing or applique. If
someone has a particularly interesting way to put them together, they may share
that with the group at the next meeting.
