March 2016 meeting minutes

Charleston Modern Quilt Guild Meeting March 22, 2016
Phoebe welcomed the group and started the meeting with committee groups.

Swaps and Challenges
A list of the swaps and challenges for the entire year was passed around.  The challenge for March was to make a potholder using improv piecing and free motion quilting.  The challenge had a great turnout.  All of the makers stood in a circle and passed their pot holders around until someone said stop.  They got to keep the potholder that was in their hand at that point.

The Christmas swap this year will be a maker's mat that can sit under your sewing machine and hold tools.

Amy told the group about Chuck Nohara’s book 2001 Blocks and asked if anyone was interested in doing this as a quilt along.  Many were, so the first blocks will be announced at the next meeting.

Charity Quilts
Please start to bring in your charity quilts to the next meeting.  Members were reminded to make sure that these quilts are finished and not just quilt tops.

The upcoming guest instructor is Latifah Saafir.
