Jean Craig called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM with 20 members and 1 guest in attendance.
Program: Tonight’s topic Trash to Treasures.
Business / Announcements:
● The next monthly meeting is October 27.
● The next Sew Day is October 17.
● The signup sheet to make stockings for a Sanders-Clyde Elementary school class was circulated. The stockings will be filled with goodies using the donations from the Trash to Treasures program. The pattern provided by Alice Anthony should be used so they are all the same size. The stockings should be lined and the loop added for hanging. Please contact Alice for more information.
● The ice dyeing results of September’s Camp Quilt Along were displayed by Jean Craig and Amy Mauldin. Kate Weston was recognized for her ice dying expertise and generous guidance at Camp. Phoebe announced that next year’s Camp will include a challenge for participants to sew something from the ice dye or indigo fabric made at camp.
● Molly displayed the first quilt to be made from the wonky star blocks, the result of September’s Sew Day. Instructions were emailed to members and more 12.5-inch blocks are needed to make charity quilts for the foster children. Please contact Molly for information.
● Elaine Woodward reminded members about the bird challenge due in November, in which we make anything quilted as we are inspired by our bird assignment. The Midnight Garden challenge is due in January. October’s meeting includes a swap of the 6” zinnia blocks.
● Reminder that our guild has a hanging Charleston Modern Quilt Guild sign that can be displayed at any Guild event. Linda Ambrose will display the quilted sign at our Coastal Carolina Fair booth beginning late October.
Members shared several charity quilts that will benefit the foster children at Thornhill in Clinton, SC. Several members also displayed their quilts for Show and Tell.
The meeting continued with the Trash to Treasures acquisitions, then concluded.
