September 2014 meeting minutes

Business
There were 11 members in attendance.

Everyone was welcomed and Phoebe started our meeting for business.  Next month we will vote whether to continue as a formalized guild with the National Modern Quilt Guild or to de-formalize.  At the October meeting we will also ask for volunteers or nominations for officers.  If you are interested, come to the next meeting with your intentions to throw your hat in the ring.  Also, start thinking about which committee you want to be on in the upcoming year.  Again, think about what you want out of this guild and what you want/need from our committees.

Sandy and Geri are in charge of our MQG charity quilt project and passed out handouts with the requirements/ideas for an alternate grid quilt. The quilt will be entered at QuiltCon. After QuiltCon, the quilt will come back to Charleston to be given to a children’s shelter. Fabric has been ordered in the required color palette of white, light gray, chartreuse, burnt orange, sky blue, cerise and a deep turquoise.  Sandy and the Community Service committee will host the October 18, 2014 Sew Day.

Kim is organizing the November 15, 2014 Sew Day.  Geri will share her knowledge from the Denyse Schmidt class, Pure Improv Weekend.  Join us November 15, 2014 at the Heritage Trust Bank 9 am, we plan to start by 10:00 am.  Please see the attached flyer for additional information.  CMQG Improv Class 11/15/14
