Business: – Connie opened the in person and Zoom meeting at 6:30pm with 24 members.
Program: - The program presented by Camela Guevara focused on visible mending. Camela is a fiber artist and painter in Charleston, SC. She creates handmade monuments to unsung labor, as well as expressive paintings in gouache. She has been teaching embroidery for 7 years, and loves to share this lighthearted craft with folks looking for a creative outlet. She demonstrated various mending styles that were not only decorative but also functional. More information can be found on her website: https://www.camelaguevara.com/ It was fun and inspiring. Sew Days: – The Sept. 25 day will feature the quilted jacket project. The Oct. sew date will focus on the Gus Tool Bag. The pattern can be found from Indigobirddesign on Etsy.
Swaps and Challenges – The book cover project is due at the Sept. 28 meeting.
Charity – Susan has received 47 pillowcases. She handed out baby quilt kits to be finished in March.
Quilt Camp – Quilt camp is August 26-29 and 29 campers have signed up to attend. Thank Kim for organizing quilt camp.
Tara Faughnan workshop The supply list will be sent out soon for the workshop The dates are Saturday, Oct. 9, Color Interaction and Oct. 10, Give and Take Improv.
Cobblestone Quilt Show – The quilt show is March 11-12, 2022. Over 200 ribbons will be awarded. Some of the many categories included in the show include wearable (quilted jackets), bed, wall, duet and miniatures. Deadlines are in January 2022.
Our next meeting is Sept. 28 in person and Zoom.
Show and Tell: It was wonderful to see our show and tell in person from Rick, Irene, Alice, Amy, Hope, Jean, Phoebe and Angie.
