We
had 27 members and 3 visitors.
Whitner
opened the meeting at with a wrap up of the lecture and class by Sherri
Lynn Wood. It was a great weekend of
learning new ways to listen to the fabric as well as new techniques with
curves. Thank you to everyone who
participated and contributed to make it a success! Eight guild members shared their colorful
curvy quilts from the class and their experiences with those of us who were not
able to be there.
Charity
Connie
shared the wonderful response from the May Sewing Day making burp cloths with
the girls at Florence Crittenton. The
next Sewing Day is July 10 and she and Susan will still be collecting Toiletry
bag kits at the June meeting. Don’t
worry if you do not have fusible batting – they have plenty!
This project is a bit more hands-on and we need as many people as possible
to help. There are usually 7-8 participants.
Just bring your travel sewing machine and an extension cord and you will
have a great time!

AQS Challenge
- We have 3 months left until the quilts are due on August 27, 2019. Pictures from #chsmqgtwocolorchallenge were
shown to inspire us with finished quilts (Alice!), pieced
tops and selected color combinations from members. Cathy, Connie and Phoebe shared finished tops.
QuiltCON
Charity Quilt 2020 – **Design ideas due at the July 23
meeting.** The theme is TEXT. The quilt must use at least one word and it
should be a central design element. It
should be twin size (60-65” X 75-85”).
The color palette includes white,
black, and 4 gradations of gray,
with details available on the MQG website. Other fabrics containing text as well as
prints that read as one of the selected solids can also be used. If we decide to participate, the sign-up deadline is Oct. 5 and the
finished quilt is due in Austin Feb 8, 2020.

· A Steering Committee
has been appointed to take a fresh look at the by-laws. They will be determining if there needs to be
an update as well as putting together a handbook for new members. We hope to roll out the finished product at
the June 25 meeting.

Phoebe shared a mini quilt she made using foundation paper piecing bunnies designed by her friend.
Lynn made a quilt top from the Victoria Findley Wolfe book Double Wedding Ring Quilts - Traditions Made Modern.
