Business – Connie opened the Zoom meeting at 6:32pm. There were 24 members in attendance.

The Officers and Executive Board for 2021 were nominated and voted on with the following approval:

OFFICERS
President – Connie Vice President – Kerry Secretary - Angie Treasurer – Lynn B.

BOARD
Programs – Amy and Sandy Charity – Susan
Swaps and Challenges – Jean Special Events – Lynn C. Outreach – Gloria
Social Media – Karyn Membership Directory – Kim Sew Days – Cathy

Budget - Connie and Lynn B. presented the Actual Budget from 2020 and the Projected Budget for 2021. We had 37 members for 2020. Travel restrictions meant we did not have the expense of a visiting quilt artist, and the reservation and deposit for the Hobcaw Plantation facility will carry over for 2022. We joined with Cobblestone to have a virtual Trunk Show with Timna Tarr and split her fee. Additional expenses included National Dues, program with Chawne Kimber, gift certificates, P.O. Box, printing and miscellaneous expenses. The balance will carry over to 2021. The Projected Budget for 2021 was made with an estimated 25 members providing our income. Anticipated expenses include annual National dues, P.O. Box rental, and miscellaneous. Programs/Zoom/Special Events/Outreach have been combined and smaller expenses are allotted for Charity, Membership and Swaps and Challenges. If you would like detailed amounts contract Lynn B.

Programs - Sandy and Amy presented ideas and led the discussion about programs for 2021. Connie has been in contact with Modern guilds from Charlotte and Greenville as well as Cobblestone to combine resources for programs and/or classes. Carol will be presenting ‘Quilting: What’s In It For Me?’ in February and Cathy will present “Color and More’ in March. If you have any ideas for speakers or topics you would like to see please get in touch with Sandy, Amy or Connie.

Sew Days - Cathy reported Five-Eighth Seams sewing space is available for our use in March. Most people seemed interested in having an identified project for out-of-the-house Sew Days in 2021. 2020 Sew Days were by Zoom with 6-8 attendees for the 9am – 12pm Sat. event and have allowed members to work on guild projects (stockings, postcards, Modern blocks) or individual projects. Wild and Wooly has also offered their outdoor area for gathering with social distancing as the weather warms in the Spring.

Outreach – Due to the limitations of the pandemic and in-person gatherings the Outreach budget has been combined with Projects and Special Events. As restrictions ease, please contact Gloria or Connie if you have any ideas for Outreach.

Charity – Susan B. has been in touch with the Shawn Jenkins Children Hospital and we will be making pillowcases for the children and scrub hats when they come out with a new pattern. We will continue our work with Newborns in Need, making baby quilts 36” – 40” sq.

Special Events – Tara Faughnan was scheduled to join us in October 2021 but she will not be travelling until 2022. There was interest in a virtual trunk show and/or classes with her and Lynn C. and Phoebe will get back to us after talking with Tara.

Swaps and Challenges – Jean has been brain-storming many possible swaps and challenges. Most members were interested in small swaps or challenges. Some ideas Jean included were

1. Baby Quilt Challenge using negative space in non-traditional quilt blocks using Kaleidoscope Made Modern (Ebony Love- Fresh Quilting Episode 301), or curves, wedges, circles or any of the Modern Blocks from Cathy’s 2020 Sew Day Instruction

2. Temperature Quilts – for a month, a quarter or the whole year 3. Resolution Quilts – for a month, a quarter or the whole year

  1. Garment – add a block to the back of a jacket, make a quilt jacket, coat or vest

  2. Letters using three Blocks (Laura Hartrich – Fresh Quilting Episode 302)

  3. Landscape Quilt

Swap Ideas

  1. Pot Holder Exchange

  2. Ugly Fabric exchange or Block exchange
