May 2018 Meeting Minutes

BUSINESS
Whitner opened the meeting and welcomed 25 members.

Members Trunk Show:  Lynn and Alice shared quilts and milestones from their personal quilting journeys.

Quiltcon 2019 Charity Quilt:  Interested members will submit a design for the quilt at our next meeting.  Don’t forget to include the math with your design.  Click to view MQG Quiltcon 2019 Charity Challenge Overview 

Florence Crittenton - Our guild has been given three dates, May 31 and June 6 or 7 to take dinner for the residents and discuss interest in sewing.  Kim has secured two machines to share with the residents.

    • Friday Oct 12 - Lecture & Trunk Show to include fabric, patterns, and books (location TBD)
    • Saturday Oct 13 - Double Wedding Ring - participants will make a block in class at Five Eights Seams
    • Sunday Oct 14 - Cascade Quilt Class, pattern from her new book, “Modern Quilt Magic.” at Five Eights Seams

SWAPS & CHALLENGES:  Phoebe
The Palmetto Modern Quilt Guild in Columbia and Greenville’s modern guild have proposed an inter-guild swap with our group.  More details to come.

April 2018 Meeting Minutes


BUSINESS
Whitner opened the meeting and welcomed 27 members and 4 visitors.

PROGRAM
Alice and Connie demonstrated applying a flat face binding and distributed handouts.

Members Trunk Show:  Hope and Connie shared quilts and stories from their quilting journey.

Blocks for the Thomas Fire Relief were collected.  

Sandy reviewed the 2019 Quiltcon Charity Quilt Guidelines and shared ideas.  Additional information will be shared as the year progresses.
