Business: – Connie opened the in person and Zoom meeting at 6:30pm with 24 members. 

Program: -  The program presented by Camela Guevara focused on visible mending.  Camela is a fiber artist and painter in Charleston, SC. She creates handmade monuments to unsung labor, as well as expressive paintings in gouache. She has been teaching embroidery for 7 years, and loves to share this lighthearted craft with folks looking for a creative outlet.  She demonstrated various mending styles that were not only decorative but also functional.  More information can be found on her website:  https://www.camelaguevara.com/ It was fun and inspiring.  Thank you Amy setting up the program.

Sew Days: –  The Sept. 25 day will feature the quilted jacket project.  The Oct. sew date will focus on the Gus Tool Bag.  The pattern can be found from  Indigobirddesign on Etsy.

Swaps and Challenges – The book cover project is due at the Sept. 28 meeting.

Charity – Susan has received 47 pillowcases.  She handed out baby quilt kits to be finished in March.

Quilt Camp – Quilt camp is August 26-29 and 29 campers have signed up to attend.  Thank Kim for organizing quilt camp.

Tara Faughnan workshop The supply list will be sent out soon for the workshop The dates are Saturday, Oct. 9, Color Interaction and Oct. 10, Give and Take Improv.

Cobblestone Quilt Show – The quilt show is March 11-12, 2022.  Over 200 ribbons will be awarded.  Some of the many categories included in the show include wearable (quilted jackets), bed, wall, duet and miniatures.  Deadlines are in January 2022.

Our next meeting is Sept. 28 in person and Zoom.  

Show and Tell:  It was wonderful to see our show and tell in person from Rick, Irene, Alice, Amy, Hope, Jean, Phoebe and Angie.

Business – Connie opened the meeting at 6:30pm with 23 members and 1 guest on Zoom.

Program  - Sandy and Amy discussed the quilted coat program.  A general schedule might be:

Month 1 – Pick pattern and fabric

Month 2 – Piecing

Month 3 – Quilting

Month 4 – Construction of garment

Kim mentioned that the Cobblestone quilt show in March 2022 will include a category for wearables.

Sew Days –  The May 15th sew day will be in person at Five Eighth Seams from 9-12.  Please wear a mask and bring sanitizing wipes.    We will also be offering  a Zoom option in May.

Show & Tell – The following members had projects to share:  Sandy, Cathy B. Irene, Jean, Whitner, Jennifer, Sandy, Lynn B., Karyn and Rick.

The next sew day is May 15 and the next meeting is May 24.

Business – Connie opened the meeting at 6:30pm with 25 members and 2 guests on Zoom.

Program – Cathy B. presented Color & More Color.   She defined value, intensity, and hue.  Your eyes will see three things in each color: • What color (its hue or name), • Its lightness or darkness (its value), and • Its brightness or dullness (its intensity).   All of these factors can be considered when designing a quilt. She also mentioned that a color wheel can be very helpful to include colors that may not be our “go to” colors but can add interest to our quilts.  A color wheel can be found at our local quilting stores.  Thank-you Cathy.  

Sew Days –  The April 17^th sew day will be via Zoom but the May 15^th sew day will be in person at Five Eighth Seams.  Yeah!  We will also offer a Zoom option in May.

Charity – Susan B. has made pillowcase kits that can be completed by our members for the Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital.  Please contact Susan at spierzon@bellsouth.net  Please continue to make baby quilts.

Jennifer is investigating the idea of a shop hop with lunch.  The idea is to visit out local quilt shops and meet up for lunch.
