No meeting in November due to Thanksgiving holidays.  You will receive an email with all of the information concerning the holiday party on December 7, 2013.  It will be on Sullivan’s Island, directions will be included in the Holiday party email.

Saturday, October 19, 2013 was our first Sewing Day.  Pictures are available on Facebook.  Another Sewing Day is being set-up for November 16, 2013 at the Heritage Trust Bank on Coleman Blvd.  Plan to join us! And mark your calendars for January 18, 2014 for our third Sewing Day.

Starting at our January 28, 2014 meeting, guild meetings will be held at our new location:  the Heritage Trust Bank building, 847 Coleman Blvd, Mt. Pleasant.  It is a very nice facility and we are looking forward to being there.  Special thanks to Tamie and Sam Herin for letting us use their office as a meeting space.

Riley Blake Challenge has been extended to February 17, 2014.

FYI:  The Cobblestone Quilters Guild will be hosting their quilt show February 28-March 1, 2014.  January 9, 2014 is the deadline to enter quilt into the show.  Please check their website for additional information .

Committee Talks

Swaps & Challenges:  Phoebe and Keri each won a bundle of Modern Christmas fat quarters tonight in a drawing.  A reminder that the People, Places & Quilts challenge is due at the end of month to PPQ in Summerville.  No sleeve is required on the quilt.  Put a label on the back, but cover for judging.

Special Events:  Plans are being made for our Holiday party on December 7, 2013.  Details will follow.  Save the date on your calendars.

Community Service & Donations:  Tamie has asked us to make baby quilts to be donated to the Silent Auction during the Cobblestone Quilters Guild Quilt show.  This year all proceeds from the silent auction will go to My Sister’s House.  We now have Charleston Modern Quilt Guild labels to use on our charity items.  Make sure to pick up some at the next meeting.  Please bring your donation baby quilts to the January meeting.

Programs:  A Questionnaire/Survey was passed out to members to complete so that we can see what we are interested in seeing and doing through our guild.  We are trying to plan programs that everyone is interested in hearing and learning.  If you did not turn them in at the meeting please mail to:  Post Office Box 723, Sullivan’s Island SC 29482.

Tonight we made a Word Cloud by answering 16 questions from Kelly B to see what we are really interested for our guild to be doing.  It was a lot of fun and we each learned a little more about each other.

Quilting Bee

Phoebe received 16 house blocks at the meeting and more to follow.  This month we received bee packets from Delynne and Ginny (since we are not meeting in November).  Please bring their blocks to the holiday party in December or at the January meeting. (Photos of all blocks at the end of the post.)

Delynne passed out Tic-Tac-Toe block information.  In your packet you received the background fabric and blocks will finish at 9 inches.  You will use your SOLID fabrics. Make sure you press toward your color fabric.

Ginny wants us to make a Fast Forward Block for her.  We each received background fabrics and use your own blues, grays, greens or browns.  Make sure to read your directions!
